Militants of the Radical Movement “Taliban” (a terrorist organization prohibited in Russia) put pressure on United Nations staff (UN). In this, the Permanent Representative of the UK in the UN Barbara Woodward, the TASS reports.
According to the postpreda, the participants in humanitarian missions of the organization are regularly subjected to threats from the Taliban. At the same time, it became known that the UN Security Council extended its mission in the Afghan territory for six months and adopted the appropriate resolution.
Earlier, UN Secretary-General Antoniou Guterrish declared the need to make a number of exceptions from sanctions against the Taliban to avoid the collapse of the Afghan economy and create conditions for the effective distribution of humanitarian assistance. According to him, States should make exceptions “of practical considerations.”
Before the UN High Commissioner on Refugees, Filippo Grandi, emphasized that Afghanistan needs urgent support from the international community to prevent a more large-scale humanitarian crisis. He came to this conclusion after a three-day visit to the republic.
