will not be allowed any more migrants from Afghanistan to Austria. This was stated by the head of the government Sebastian Kurz in an interview with the Italian newspaper la Stampa.
“We will not accept any more an Afghan refugee -. At least as long as I have power (…) can not repeat the mistakes of 2015 and uncontrollably to let people”, – the politician stressed. He noted that the integration of immigrants from Afghanistan is very difficult, the Austrian state can not afford such an expenditure of energy. The main difficulty – is that Afghans are generally very poorly educated and completely alien to Europeans shared values: for example, more than half of young Afghans, living in Austria, support violence as a response to an insult to their religion
.
The Chancellor added that Austria supports humanitarian programs that improve quality of life in Afghanistan and prevent mass migration. The country lives more migrants originating in Afghanistan than in the neighboring countries of the EU – in the last few years there came about 44 thousand Afghan citizens
.
Earlier, Director of the Consular Department of the MFA Ivan Volinkin expressed concern over the risk of an uncontrolled flow of refugees in Russia and Central Asia from Afghanistan. He, however, noted that while the number of Afghans illegally crossed the border can be considered negligible.
