The Federal Network Agency for Germany (BNetza) received documents for the certification of the North Stream-2 gas pipeline. This was announced by Interfax, the spokesman for the German regulator Fite Wulf. Consideration of documents will take up to four months.
“The company provided all documents. By law, we have up to four months of time for consideration and decision, then the decision must be transferred to the European Commission,” the Wulf told. He clarified that the issue of certification and compliance of the gas pipeline of the European Union directive is considered, and not the launch of the “Northern Flow-2”.
On September 10, the head of Gazprom, Alexey Miller, announced the completion of the construction of “Northern Flow-2”. The two threads of the gas pipeline will be held from Russia to Germany for the bottom of the Baltic Sea. The length of each thread is 1224 kilometers. The capacity of the gas pipeline is 55 billion cubic meters per year.
At the end of August, the Supreme Land Court Düsseldorf decided not to free the operator of the construction of the “Northern Flow-2” company NORD Stream 2 AG on the requirements of the updated EU gas directive. According to the document, one company has no right to own a gas pipeline and supply gas on it in full. Thus, Gazprom will be able to use only half of the pipeline power.
