US authorities staged a useless military campaign in Afghanistan, which lasted 20 years and did not bring any benefit to the Americans nor Afghans. This opinion shared a veteran of the Afghan war David Weisman in a conversation with “Tape.ru”.
Weisman served in Afghanistan twice: in 2006 – 2007, as well as in 2010 – 2011. Veteran said that in the war, first of all engaged in the protection of the military priest (Capellan) and worked in hot spots. In response to the question of how he applies to the results of a 20-year-old campaign, Weisman criticized the US authorities and called the campaign useless.
“For what our soldiers are sitting, for what veterans commit suicide and suffer from mental disorders … I can’t find an answer. 20 years to order everyone, wipe away. Why did Bush-junior send the troops there? He, who could not kill [chapter forbidden in the Russian Federation “Al-Qaida” Usama] bin Laden without it? ” – Noted Weisman.
In his opinion, the inhabitants of Afghanistan do not want democracy: otherwise they would not allow the intervention of the Taliban (the movement is recognized as terrorist and prohibited in the Russian Federation).
May 1 began the official conclusion of US troops and the North Atlantic Alliance countries from the Afghan territories. After that, the situation in the country aggravated, the forces of the Taliban were activated, and already on August 15, the militants announced the establishment of control throughout the country. The conclusion of the US troops ended on August 31.
