Israeli company Storedot introduced a car battery, charging in 10 minutes. This is reported by the edition of The Times of Israel.
Created by Storedot specialists prototype battery is based on the batteries of type 4680, which, in particular, are used in the TESLA electrocars. The batteries have a standard cylindrical shape and dimensions of 46 to 58 millimeters. A distinctive feature of the invented batteries is support for extremely fast charge (XFC). With this technology, the device can be charged 100 percent in 10 minutes.
Increasing the charge rate is achieved by replacing graphite in the anode element on metaloid nanoparticles, such as silicon. According to engineers, in the case of a new battery, they managed to increase battery capacity and solve productivity and safety problems.
The company clarified that the work on the new battery charging technology was carried out for three years, the method was described in five patents. At the moment, Storedot is negotiating with its Chinese partner EVE ENERGY on creating a production line. Start of the release of batteries with superfast charging support is scheduled for 2024.
In November 2014, the Israeli company announced the development of technology that would potentially allow the smartphone in a few seconds, and the electric car in a few minutes. Storedot was founded in 2012.
