Vilnius must continue the sanction pressure on Minsk, despite economic losses. About this, Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrid Shimonite told in an interview with La Repubblica.
According to the head of government, the Lithuanian side is not worth “abandoning their principles” and sanctions against Belarus due to freight transit, which is deprived of its seaports.
In this regard, she reminded how a few months ago, the Belarusian vessel with petroleum products was transported to Russia, and stressed that “the world did not collapse from this.”
Earlier, the Minister of Economy and Innovation Lithuania Auschrine Armonail stated that the Lithuanian authorities will leave local enterprises without state support that trade with Belorussia. She noted that such companies lose subsidies from the budget.
In August, the Minister of Transport and Communications Lithuania Marius Skodis reported that new Washington sanctions against Minsk actually put the cross on the transit of potash fertilizers from Belarus through Lithuanian ports from December this year.
