Specialists from Sweden found out that physical activity significantly reduces the risk of developing disturbing disorders. Article researchers Published in Frontiers in Psychiatry magazine.
Scientists appreciated information about well-being 395 thousand people. Almost 200 thousand of them took part in Valoppet – a mass marathon ski race by 90 kilometers. “We found out that during the observation period – until 21 years – the group with physically active lifestyle risk of alarming disorders was lower by 60 percent,” said the lead author of the department, the head of the Department of Experimental Medicine, Londian University Thomas Deerborg. The scientist emphasizes that this connection was traced, both in men and women.
At the same time, between them there was a significant difference in the effects on the ratio of physical performance. If the men shown in the race, the result did practically no effect on the risk of anxious disorder, then the women with the best results were almost twice as much. At the same time, as scientists emphasize, this indicator of the skiers was still smaller than that of ordinary women who did not pass the race.
