Cosmonauts Oleg Novitsky and Peter Dubrov will look for a source of burnt plastic on the Russian module “Star” of the International Space Station (ISS). The commission of astronauts received from the Moscow Region Flight Control Center (PCU), “RIA Novosti reports.
Specialist of the Center entrusted “As soon as possible” to inspect the instruments of the power supply system. He specified that the instruments are located in the “Star” module. The purpose of the inspection is to search the source of the smell of burner, which found on September 9.
Earlier, Oleg Novitsky reported to the PC on the steight alarm in the module. After that, the crew felt the smell of Gary and saw smoke. The French Astronaut of Tom Sand confirmed that the smell of burnt plastic or electrical appliances came to the American segment of the ISS from the Russian on the ventilation channels.
Russian astronauts examined the “Star” module, but the smoke source was not found. After that, the station included air purification filter.
On September 9, it became known about the breakdown, which prevented Oleg Novitsky to connect the Ethernet cable to the multi-purpose laboratory module “Science”. After breakdown, the cosmonaut castle had to manually spin cable.
