Hungary called on NATO to hold an honest evaluation of errors in Afghanistan

The North Atlantic Alliance should have a fair assessment of his mistakes in Afghanistan, so as not to repeat them in future missions. This was stated by the head of the MID of Hungary Peter Siyarthto in an interview with TASS.

Diplomat noted that after the final withdrawal of the troops of NATO countries with Afghan territory, it is necessary to thoroughly analyze why the situation has developed in this way. “We must appreciate all the consequences and draw conclusions – because we can face the same problems in the future – so as not to accomplish the same mistakes that have already done,” he called.

According to Xiyarthto, the plans of the North Atlantic Alliance for the liberation of Afghanistan from terrorist groups and the improvement of the lives of local residents failed. He stressed that the return of the “Taliban” movement (a terrorist organization forbidden in Russia) proves the failure of NATO strategy. “We were present there for 20 years, we sacrificed people, we sacrificed funds. But we at the same point where they were 20 years ago,” the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry shot.

Earlier it was reported that the former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice together with the former presidential adviser on national security issues Herbert McMaster called on American Government and UN to take orphans from Afghanistan. Politicians asked US authorities not to give Afghan orphans in the hands of the Taliban and protect them from violence.
