The first deputy chairman of the Board of Sberbank Alexander Lamuntsin predicted almost a complete refusal of Russians from bank plastic cards by 2025. He told RIA Novosti that in a few years the cards could become “rarity”.
“Now every fourth of our client opens a new card without plastic media. We expect 50 percent of the cards by the end of 2023 without plastic. And by 2025, I think the plastic card will become a rarity,” he said.
According to him, many Russians refuse to cash from cash, the share of completely non-cash clients has grown to date almost up to half of 25 percent in 2014. In this case, the demand for cash depends on seasonality: in December it is traditionally higher, in January – below.
Previously, leaders said that Sberbank now does not plan to raise consumer loan rates. He added that the main reason for the current increase in the key rate is to accelerate inflation.
