On September 1, the day of knowledge is celebrated annually – the beginning of the new school year. The holiday was declared a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council (Sun) of the USSR of June 15, 1984, who supplemented Article 1 of the Decision of the Presidium of the USSR Sun of October 1, 1980 “On Festive and Memorial Days” (was adopted in the new edition on November 1, 1988; the latest changes Made by decree of the President of the Russian Federation of May 31, 2006). For the first time, the day of knowledge was celebrated on September 1, 1984.
