In the portholes of the Russian segment of the International Space Station (ISS), they found deep cavities, the General Designer of the Rocket and Space Corporation (RSC) “Energy” Vladimir Soloviev said RIA Novosti.
According to the head of flights of the Russian segment of the ISS, the presence of such formations on seven of twenty portholes can affect the tightness of the near-earth laboratory.
“In this regard, we introduced a new procedure for measuring the deflection of glass windows. They can, of course, can be covered with hermetic covers, but what’s the point to fly to the station without portholes?” – noted Solovyov.
In April, the general director of Roskosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, said that Russia, after leaving the ISS project, allows the transfer of NASA of the Russian segment of the orbital laboratory. In the same month, he said that a scientific and energy module (NEM) was used for the construction of a Russian orbital service station (ROSS), originally created for the ISS.
Previously, Vice Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said that Russia in 2025 will be released from the ISS project and start creating a new national orbital station. At the same time, the official said that the situation associated with the aging of the designs of the ISS acquires a catastrophic nature and Russia cannot risk the life of astronauts.
