Scientists from Sweden found out that people with periodontitis have higher risk of developing cardiovascular diseases. Data on this study, specialists presented at the Cardiology European Society Congress.
During the Longitudinal Research, experts from the Caroline Institute revealed an unusual phenomenon: in the first time the patient’s heart attack is much more common than their healthy peers were common – the disease of the gums and bone tissue surrounding the tooth. Researchers decided to find out if these two dangerous diseases are connected with each other. For six years, they watched 1587 people ‘health, whose average age was 62 years. Scientists were monitored whether there were deaths of a deadly outcome, whether participants had a study during this time a heart attack or stroke, whether heart failure arose and how these data intersect with information about the presence of periodontitis.
According to the results of the oral and teeth surveys, 482 people found moderate periodontitis, 113 is heavy. On average, such people have the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases above 49 percent. The harder passionateness proceeded, the fact that this figure was higher.
Researchers suggest that the fabric damage caused by periodontitis is allowed to penetrate harmful microbes into the bloodstream, which cause damage to blood vessels.
