Russia strongly condemns the acts of vandalism in Moldova against memorials dedicated to the Great Patriotic War. This is reported by TASS with reference to the statement of the official representative of the Mary Zakharov Foreign Ministry.
According to the diplomat, on August 23 in Chisinau, the time of the Second World War “was examined. Min No.”, and on August 21, Karpach, the Korpachki District of the Vandal District desecrated the monument in honor of the Warriors of the 3rd Guards Umansky Airborne Division. “The vandals broke a memorable plate in honor of the paratroopers,” she said.
Zakharova stressed that Russia expects to promptly bring objects to the proper form. She called on the Moldova authorities to investigate and bring the responsibility of those perpetrators. The official representative of the Foreign Ministry referred to Chisinau’s obligations under the “Agreement of 2011 on the perpetuation of memory of the courage and the heroism of the peoples of the CIS member states in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.”
Earlier, Maria Zakharova stated that the Estonian authorities continue to honor the punishers and collaborators instead of the world’s liberated warriors. So she appreciated the installation of the monument to “Forest Brothers” in Estonia. According to her, the “forest brothers” entered the story not like warriors, but as “ordinary dustwaybies, meanly, sophisticated with innocent civilians.”
