US authorities will develop a plan for evacuation from Afghanistan in case it is delayed for longer than August 31. This was announced by the press secretary of Pentagon John Kirby. His words are published on the Office website.
He stressed that the American side will seek to meet in time until August 31, according to the conditions set by the Taliban (a terrorist organization prohibited in Russia). According to him, the militants “transparently gave to understand” their intentions. At the same time, the spokesman noted that the US military are in constant contact with the Taliban on secure evacuation issues.
Kirby stated that the shift of the deadlines could arise, because many Afghans who collaborated with the American army are still in Kabul. It will also take time to export machinery and equipment. If necessary, additional power of the US Air Force will be involved.
Earlier, Kirby stated that the troops would be able to destroy some of the equipment and weapons, which would be impossible to take out. He stressed that the US Army would have acted in the same time during evacuation from any other continent.
