The main condition for recognizing the power of the Taliban movement (a terrorist organization prohibited in Russia) in Afghanistan is the fulfillment of international obligations assumed by the militants. This is stated in a statement following the results of video conferencing of leaders of the “Big Seven” countries (G7), RIA Novosti reports.
G7 leaders called ensuring safe evacuation from Kabul until August 31 by the main obligation of the Taliban, and also agreed on the road map of interaction with the Taliban.
Earlier it became known that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson offered leaders G7 to develop a plan for recognition of new power in Afghanistan or coordinate economic sanctions. In his opinion, the countries “Big Seven” require a single approach to interaction with the Taliban.
So far, none of the G7 countries recognized the power of the Taliban in Kabul. However, such a political step will allow Taliban to contact States “Big Seven” for support.
Taliban came to power in Afghanistan after August 15, the capital of Kabul was taken without a fight. President Ashraf Ghani removed the powers and ran to the UAE. Now the militants together with the Provisional Council form a new government in Afghanistan.
