UN: called Poland to take migrants stuck on border with Belarus

The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, called Poland to adopt a group of migrants from the Middle East, stuck on the border with Belorussia. About this August 24 reports “Interfax”.

The representative of the Office in Poland Christine Goya asked the authority of the country to “open access to their territory for these people and provide them with medical, legal and psychological assistance.” Goya noted that the international organization is concerned about the situation with this group of migrants.

previously it became known that several dozen people tried to illegally cross the border of Poland by Belarus. Having achieved neutral territory, they turned out to be blocked by Polish border guards on the one hand and Belarusian – on the other. In this position, migrants are already two weeks.

Prime Minister Mateush Morrazhetsky stated that Poland is not ready to skip because of the concern that it will entail an increase in the migration flow. Later, the authorities decided to provide migrants tents, pajamas and sleeping bags.

The migration crisis on the border of Belarus with the countries of the European Union began after at the end of May, President Alexander Lukashenko, against the background of the next exacerbation of relations with the West, threatened to weaken control over the streams of illegal immigrants and drug trafficking.
