Israel and the United States signed an agreement on the purchase of two Batteries of the Iron Dome system in August 2019, and in 2020 the IDDS-A system was delivered to the United States.
The first division of the training for the operation of the Iron Dome was the third battalion of the 43rd artillery air defense regiment based on Fort Blisse in Texas. During the tests of the soldiers of the third battalion, they successfully struck eight training goals by the Tamir interceptors.
The US Army plans to place two IDDS-A batteries as a temporary solution. In parallel, the military is improving the Indirect Fire Protection Capability (IFPC) indirect fire protection system, which can be the main means of protection against missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and artillery shells.
