In Austria, there will be no refugees from Afghanistan. This was stated by Chancellor Sebastian Kurtz on the air of the Austrian television channel Puls 24.
According to politics, the country cannot take people from Afghanistan, as more than 40 thousand Afghans will live in it. “I am definitely against us now voluntarily take more people while I am a Chancellor, this will not happen,” he said.
According to the Austrian leader, it is better to help the disadvantaged Afghans on their territory, especially women. “Especially in terms of women and the situation with the safety of the population – here we are huge responsibility,” said politician.
Kurtz added that in Austria there is one of the largest Afghan communities in the world per capita, and the country has already encountered the problem of integrating these people into society.
Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Russia Sergey Lavrov said that in matters of refugee reception, Russia will be guided by its obligations under international humanitarian law. He also called on all directions of the Afghan conflict “to an urgent transition to a nationwide dialogue.”
