134 years ago, August 23, 1887, the engineer, scientist and the inventor of Friedrich Zander, was born, a person who dedicated his whole life to space.
Friedrich Zander was born in Riga and in childhood he was fond of books on astronomy and science fiction novels Jules Verne. First, Friedrich studied at home, then in the real school, which graduated from the first student in 1905, which allowed without exams to enter the mechanical department of the Riga Polytechnic Institute (1907).
In the last class of the real school of Cander on the recommendation of one of the teachers, I got acquainted with the work of Constantine Tsiolkovsky “Study of world spaces with reactive devices”, which strengthened the young inventor in the desire to close to the problems of interplanetary flights. And after ten years he made a project of an interplanetary airflow ship at the inventors conference.
Cander published work, where there is a specific path of practical exercise of the space flight: the creation of an aircraft combining aircraft and a rocket; Development of a reactive engine on compressed air with gasoline. Subsequently, the Cnder designed a motor installation on liquid oxygen with gasoline.
At the end of 1931, a new research team was created in Moscow – a group of reactive movement (Gird), which was led by Zander and his student who later became the founder of domestic practical cosmonautics – Sergey Korolev. And after two years, a rocket operating on liquid fuel, which weighed less than 30 kilograms was launched from near Moscow. The rocket designer became Friedrich Cander.
Honored Scientist and Technology Academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences Anatoly Freavranov About Friedrich Zander: “Proceedings of the Cander are still such works in which researchers and designers found the opportunity to draw new ideas for themselves. His legacy still helps to look Forward, to use what he wrote what was thinking about, for the further development of rocket technology. “
According to scientists, modern rocket equipment continues to develop precisely in the direction that founded and developed by Friedrich Cander, which is why his work is of great importance.
