USA was requested by Bishkek assistance in placing the American military from Afghanistan in the territory of Kyrgyzstan. This was stated by the head of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry Ruslan Kazakbayev in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The Minister noted that “the question of cooperation in such a format is not worth it.” He recalled that the Republic had already taken military NATO on the basis of the airport “Manas”, allowing to accommodate the forces of the anti-terrorist coalition in 2001-2009, to support the campaign in Afghanistan. Kazakbayev also reported that on the issue of accommodation in Kyrgyzstan US troops “there were various appeals, consultations at various levels.”
Earlier The Wall Street Journal, with reference to the sources in the Kremlin and the White House, said that Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke out against the presence of US troops in Central Asia. This happened at a meeting with American President Joe Biden in Geneva. The position of the Russian leader, according to the publication, has become an obstacle to the placement of US Air Force Bases in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
It could greatly alleviate for American aircraft and drones, the task of inflicting strikes by the “Taliban” (the movement is prohibited in the Russian Federation) in Afghanistan. Also, the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Ryabkov stated that Russia warned the United States from the transfer of troops to the countries bordering with Afghanistan.
