US should prepare for war with China if Beijing decides to capture Taiwan. This was told by a former assistant Minister of Defense of the United States Elbridge Colby in an interview with the New Yorker.
According to Colby, the prospects for the US-Chinese war due to Taiwan are becoming increasingly obvious, since the PRC is increasing military force in the region. Against the background of leaving Afghanistan and the defeat of the government in Kabul from the Taliban’s hands (Taliban, the terrorist organization prohibited in Russia) will not be able to ignore, according to him, threats to Taiwanese sovereignty.
Kolby noted that China has powerful naval forces, as well as high-range missiles, which, in aggregate, exceed US military capabilities. A former official assures that in the event of the defeat of the Allies Taiwan, Washington will have to recognize Chinese domination in the Far East. At the same time, in his opinion, the Pentagon has “terrible” perspectives in a potential war.
On August 18, it became known that the People’s Liberation Army of China (NAK) held exercise exercises in Taiwan. According to the representative of NAK, the teachings were a response to provocations from the US Navy in Taiwanese Strait. They are also called upon to warn foreign encroachment into Chinese sovereignty.
