“The All-Russian People’s Front” (ONF) sent to the head of the Ministry of Finance Maxuta Shadaev Letter with a proposal to introduce criminal penalties for organizing services under the submenu of numbers and possibly the replacement process itself. Reports about it “Kommersant”.
According to social activists, invented frauds with a substitution of numbers became one of the main tools of fraudsters while theft of customer assistance from bank cards. The letter also indicates that it is necessary to oblige communication operators for free to warn subscribers about suspicious calls and block them without a court sanction.
As the publication writes, every month attackers steal 3.5 to 5 billion rubles from Russians. In the first quarter of 2021, the Central Bank of Russia recorded 6.1 thousand numbers from which fraudsters called, which is 38 percent more than a year ago. At the same time, at the legislative level, it was not decided to deal with this problem.
