Zakharov rated installation of monument to anti-Soviet nationalists in Estonia

The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Maria Zakharov said that Estonia continues to honor the punishers and collaborators instead of the World of Warriors of the Red Army. So she appreciated the installation of the monument to “Forest Brothers” in its Telegram channel.

The representative of the department stated that in the year of the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War in Estonia, the anti-Soviet nationalists continue to celebrate, “on the elbow of the stained hands in human blood.”

According to her, the “forest brothers” entered the story not as warriors, but as “ordinary dust, mean, sophisticated with innocent civilians.” Zakharova added that over the past year it was the second monument to nationalists.

At the same time, the representative of the Foreign Ministry recalled that only according to official data, in the account of the “Forest Brothers” in Estonia of the life of almost 500 civilians.

On August 22, the solemn opening of the monument to “Forest Brothers” took place in the urinary district. The “forest brothers” in Estonia is informally called members of the underground armed formations of nationalists, the main peak of whose activity has come for the years of World War II and the next decade.

The rebels conducted an activity not only in Estonia, but also in other countries of Baltic – Latvia and Lithuania. During World War II, the Nazis actively attracted members of the association to participate in punitive promotions. Some of them became members of the 20th SS division. However, despite this, in Estonia “Forest Brothers” are considered national heroes.
