Detected protecting from most variants of Covid-19 antibody

Researchers from the United States found a human antibody that can fight with most coronavirus strains, in particular, with all options causing the concern of WHO. The article of scientists is published in the magazine Immunity.

Many new coronavirus variants have mutations in a peping protein that allow them to avoid recognition and neutralization of human antibodies. Researchers from Washington University in St. Louis together with colleagues from the United States decided to find out which of the antibodies most successfully counteract the greatest number of SARS-COV-2 options. For this, scientists received 43 antibodies from mice, which were immunized with the introduction of a key selection of a peping protein – receptor-binding domain.

After that, the researchers assessed how well these bodies prevented the spread of the “Wuhan” SARS-COV-2 – first in Petri dishes, and then in mice. Scientists have chosen the two most powerful neutralizing particles and tested them against new strains of coronavirus – several “nameless”, two interests of the options for the WHO classification (“Yota” and “Kappa”) and all four, causing concern (“Alpha”, “Beta” , Gamma and Delta). The SARS2-38 antibody neutralized all the options, moreover, even at low concentration. His “Human” version was protected by a mouse from “Kappa” -Shtamma and protein of the peploma option “beta”.

In addition, scientists found that SARS2-38 binds to a unique protein area with which other antibodies do not interact. This fact, emphasize researchers, can serve as a basis for developing a medication based on a combination of antibodies.
