According to him, the Taliban came into contact with the previous head of the country’s foreign policy department, and during the conversation, Atmar said that he intends to return to the country. The representative of the movement added that the militants are negotiating with some former officials of the Afghan authorities about their return to the country with the aim of forming a representative government.
On August 17, the Taliban declared an universal amnesty for former government officials and called for them to resume work in state institutions. At the same time it became known that some of the high-ranking representatives of the former authorities of Afghanistan were detained by supporters of the Taliban or disappeared after establishing the Taliban control over the country.
Earlier, ATMAR said that he was attacked in his residence together with colleagues in the foreign policy department. On August 15, the Taliban announced that Afghanistan was completely under their control. It happened after capturing Kabul. The militants managed to subordinate most of the country and all major cities in a few weeks.
On the same day, the President of the country Ashraf Gani left Afghanistan. The leadership of the state passed to the Temporary Council, which will have to transfer the power of Taliban.
