US President Joe Biden issued a decree, which will allow to introduce sanctions in connection with “specific energy projects” of the Russian state, in particular, this concerns the North Stream-2 gas pipeline. This is reported on the website of the White House.
The statement states that the decree of the head of state is aimed at strengthening the energy security of Europe.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel discussed an agreement on the “Northern Flow-2” at a meeting in the Kremlin. The German leader reminded Putin that this project concerns not only the Russian Federation and Germany, but also other European countries.
