Russian Foreign Ministry criticized NATO’s teachings on the eastern flank, calling them “short-sighted.” This was stated by the official representative of the MID Maria Zakharov, RIA Novosti reports.
According to her, the presence of NATO in the Baltic States and Poland can be equal to “to the level of an enhanced motor-drift brigade with heavy machinery.” Baltic countries are often the main supporters of the anti-Russian line, supporting the idea of ”the possibility of invasion of Russia,” said the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“We consider such maneuvers provocative, and in the current conditions – at least short-sighted,” summed up Zakharov. NATO management is also developing a propaganda thesis on the need for power consideration of Moscow, the diplomat believes.
Earlier, the Russian senator Alexey Pushkov explained the hysteria of the West because of Kaliningrad. According to him, the “Western and Polish chatter” about the allegedly emanating from Kaliningrad a military threat aims to incite the hysteria around the “military preparations of Russia”. “The United States and NATO must constantly keep this topic to justify the saturation of the Baltic States, Poland and the Baltic Sea with their armed forces; tightening NATO’s military maneuvers Finland,” he explained.
