President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko warned against the return of the era of stagnation, as in the time of the Secretary General of the Central Committee of the CPSU Leonid Brezhnev. It is reported by BelTA.
“We cannot freeze the situation in the country and the situation, for the Brezhnev times will be repeated. Young people do not remember this, but we are, the elders, remember this period of stagnation well. Therefore, you need a move forward,” called Lukashenko at the presentation ceremony GosNagrad.
According to him, the opposition demanded changes, but “changes must be legal.” To do this, it is planned to hold a referendum to adopt amendments to the Constitution. At the same time, some representatives of the police and servicemen do not understand why it is necessary, Lukashenko noted.
Earlier, Lukashenko said that the West was trying to arrange a state-operator in Belarus, as the country is the key to the entire post-Soviet space. For this, a variety of ways were used “up to terrorist attacks, ritual killings, armed rebellion,” the president approves. However, after a long confrontation, the socio-political situation in the country was normalized, he said.
In August 2020, presidential elections were held in Belarus. The CEC announced the victory of Lukashenko. Official results caused mass protests throughout the country that continued for several months.
