Afghan police officer Haded Hassanzade told in a conversation with RIA Novosti about the unequal fight between the Afghan security forces and militants of the Taliban movement (organization prohibited in Russia) for the province of Herat. According to the officer, the number of Taliban exceeded the forces of the Afghan army and the police ten times.
Hassanzade said that on Thursday, on August 12, about 600 Taliban militants on cars and motorcycles broke into his native County, located in the province of Herat. Police officer, together with his colleagues, tried to resist the terrorists, but they encountered a total advantage in a lively strength and weapons from the militants.
“We were only 70 soldiers, we had Calashnikov machines as weapons. The Taliban had M4 and M16 rifles, and even snipers with night vision devices,” the officer told.
According to him, despite the almost tenfold superiority of the Taliban in numbers, government troops gave them a fight. As a result of the collisions, 20 Afghan security officials and eight terrorists were killed. Realizing that it is impossible to restrain the attack of such a large detachment, Hassanzade disappeared from the battlefield and ran to Kabul along with his family.
The Taliban grouping was able to seize power in Afghanistan during the week. On Sunday, August 8, the first reports began to receive the seizure of large provincial capitals. On August 12, herat and Kandahar – the two of the largest countries in Kabul of the country on August 15, terrorists declared the seizure of the capital. The government of President Ashraf Gani almost fully fled from the country.
