Zakharova explained fate of attacked Moscow policeman

Russia informs the US Embassy about the fate of the attacked Moscow policeman Trevor Reed. This was told by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Maria Zakharov, RIA Novosti reports.

She also noted that the American side introduces a misconception, stating that the Russian government is silent about the fate of the US citizen. “On August 12, the US Embassy was officially informed (…) that the US citizen (…) arrived to serve the punishment in the correctional colony in Mordovia,” Zakharov added. Also, the diplomat clarified that Russia provides the American Embassy information about Health Reed.

The fact that a student from Texas Reed was disappeared for three weeks, the American embassy reported on August 5. According to the Office, the Russian authorities did not notify the location of the US citizen. The embassy also stated that his employees “will continue to put pressure on the Russian authorities in order to consular access to Rida.”

On July 30, 2020, Reed was found guilty of article 318 (“Application to the representative of the authority of violence, life-threatening or health”) of the Criminal Code of Russia. He was sentenced to nine years in prison.

On August 16, 2019, the Rida detained the police, because the tenants of the house on the Leningrad highway caused employees to reassure the drunken American, who swear with two women. On the way to the department, being in the service car, he broke the uniform to one employee and hit his colleague.
