Poland’s authorities sent almost a thousand servicemen to the border with Belorussia. On August 19, the Minister of Defense Mariusch Blazkuk said, “BelSAT” reports.
“The Polish army supports the border service for the protection of the border with Belarus. I received reports from commanders about this. More than 900 soldiers are involved in this operation,” Blazhak said.
On August 17, the Polish Government Information Center reported that since the beginning of the month 1935 people tried to illegally go through the Polish-Belarusian border. Moreover, 760 foreigners were detained and sent to special closed centers for migrants.
Earlier, the Programmit Committee of Belarus accused the Polish authorities in an attempt to displace the Belarusian territory of refugees from Afghanistan.
The migration crisis on the border of Belarus with EU countries began after in May, against the background of the next exacerbation of relations with the West, President Alexander Lukashenko threatened to weaken control abroad. Later, he stated that Belarus is not obliged to host refugees who “go into enlightened, warm, cozy Europe.”
