The Russian Ministry of Defense of Russia leads the design work on creating a caterpillar mortar on a snow-wide chassis adapted for the Arctic landscape. The car will be based on a two-born DT-BTR conveyor, reports TASS with reference to a member of the military-industrial commission of the Russian Federation Mikhail Oshko.
In the development of self-propelled mortar, the experience of creating an armored personnel carrier DT-BTR and the repair and evacuation tracked double-born machine RAM-GD is taken into account. The basis of these cars is the upgraded chassis of the all-terrain vehicle DT-10PM.
Also, the Ministry of Defense of Russia leads the design work on the creation of special military vehicles for the Arctic. According to Osyko, we are talking about the control points and communications machines adapted for the Arctic conditions. Prospective machines can get the chassis of two-born all-terrain vehicles DT-10 and DT-30.
DT-10 and DT-30 Machine-Building Company all-terrain vehicles are intended for transportation in difficult climatic conditions. Double-born design and wide caterpillars allow all-terrain vessels to overcome a complex off-road, a snowy virgin and a swampy terrain. Machines can operate at ambient temperature from minus 50 to plus 50 degrees Celsius. On the basis of all-terrain vehicles, a family of military equipment was developed for equipping the Arctic Brigades of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. So, in November 2019, anti-aircraft missile systems “Tor-M2DT” took over the combat duty.
