The US Army called its promising hypersonic Long-Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW) rocket (LRHW), capable of London to hit Moscow, Dark Eagle (“Dark Eagle”), reports Popular Mechanics.
An American magazine notes that the rocket range is 2775 kilometers. The US Army LRHW should be received in 2023. The publication reminds that the naval forces (Navy) of the United States will receive its (sea) version of Dark Eagle, able to run with surface ships and submarines.
“considering that LRHW is largely aimed at deterring competitors in China and Russia, it can be assumed that [the appropriate] division of [US Army] is likely to be placed in the Indo-Pacific or European Theater [hostilities],” – Allowed in Breaking Defense.
According to the publication, the LRHW hyperzvuki system will include a battery of four mobile starting installations and a mobile control system and control. Each start-up will receive two rockets. For transportation, Dark Eagle is planned to use the C-130 Hercules military transport aircraft.
In August 2020, the US Army during the online briefing showed the launch, flight and target defeat with a rocket with a hypersonic planning unit Common HyperSonic Glide Body (C-HGB), which will receive LRHW.
The appropriate tests conducted by the naval forces (Navy) and the US Army took place in March of the same year.
