Height of ISS orbits will adjust on August 19

Another correction of the height of the orbit of the International Space Station as part of preparation for the start of the transport piloted ship “Union MS-19” and the return of the Soyuz MS-18 ship is scheduled for August 19, 2021.

According to preliminary data of the Ballistic-navigation provisional service of the TsNIIMASH flights (Roskosmos State Corporation), at 07:04 Moscow time will be issued a team on the inclusion of the engines of the service module “Star” of the Russian segment of the ISS, which will work 46 seconds. After the corrective maneuvers, the height of the station orbits will increase pre-1.2 kilometers.

The orbit parameters of the International Space Station after maneuvers must be:

  • Capance period: 92.93 min;
  • orbit: 51.66 degrees;
  • Minimum orbit height: 420.63 km;
  • Maximum Orbit Height: 437.00 km.

The average height of the orbit after the correction is expected to be 420.85 km.

At present at the International Space Station, the 65th expedition is operating as part of the astronauts of Roscosmos Oleg Novitsky and Peter Dubrova, NASA Astronauts Mark Vanda Haya, Shane Kimbrow and Megan Macacur, Akikhiko Hoshide Aerospace Agency Actronaut (Station Commander) and Astronaut European Space Agency Tom Sand.
