Belarus announced increase in combat potential of Western neighbors

Secretary of State of the Security Council of Belarus, Lieutenant-General Alexander Wolfovich said that Western neighbors are increasing the combat potential and infrastructure at the borders of the republic. He said this in an interview with the magazine “National Defense”, his words lead RIA Novosti.

According to Security Secretary, the main efforts are thrown on the improvement of objects that will ensure the reception and placement of foreign troops, like airfields, training centers, polygons, warehouses.

Wolfovich added that Poland increases the number of troops on the border of Belarus, from 113 to 200 thousand people by 2025, forms new compounds of land forces and modernizes technical equipment, the priority is given to American weapons.

Lieutenant-General noted that similar activities are held in the Baltic countries, as well as within the framework of NATO and USA operations “Atlantic determination”, “reinforced presence” and “Baltic Air Police”. On an ongoing basis, a grouping of more than 10 thousand servicemen and more than 500 units of heavy machinery is deployed.

Previously, members of the Constitutional Commission of Belarus decided to exclude the wording about the desire to build a neutral state from the text of the Constitution. This was announced by one of the members of the commission Alexander Shpakovsky. He noted that the rejection of the non-use of military force in foreign policy is of great importance to ensure the national security and stability of Belarus in the conditions of escalation of tensions in relations with Western countries.
