The IL-112B light military-transport aircraft program was decided to continue on the third and fourth prototypes, despite the collapse of the first sample and the death of the ship’s crew. This was reported by RIA Novosti source in the defense and industrial complex.
“Currently, the second experimental sample of IL-112B undergoes the strength tests on the stand, the third and fourth experienced aircraft will be connected to flights,” said the agency’s interlocutor, adding that the third and fourth samples will rise in the air in the summer of next year.
Earlier, the source in emergency services told the TASS that the fire in the right engine IL-112B, crashed in the Cuban near Moscow, could arise due to oil from entering the combustion chamber. According to him, earlier there were cases when oil flowed out of the engine.
IL-112B crashed during the training flight at the Kubinka airfield near Moscow. On board the aircraft there were three members of the crew: commander, test pilot, hero of Russia Nikolai Kimov, Test pilot Dmitry Komarov and flight manager Tester Nikolay Khludev. They died.
