Fire in the second (right) engine of an experienced model of the newest Russian military transport aircraft IL-112B, crashed in the Cuban near Moscow, could arise due to oil entering the combustion chamber. Such a reason called the TASS source in emergency services.
“Earlier there were cases when oil was flowing out of the engine,” the agency’s interlocutor said.
Source in the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), in turn, noted that Il-112 would have previously identified problems with the engine. After the first flight, which took place in 2019 and was accompanied by problems, the plane was almost a year and a half standing on Earth. Then the aircraft began to actively exploit and quite quickly discovered the problems with the engine – this happened on the sixth flight. The nature of the troubleshooting source did not reveal.
