Russian authorities are not in a hurry to recognize the power of the Taliban movement (prohibited in the Russian Federation) in Afghanistan. This was stated by the Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, reports TASS.
He explained that other countries adhere to such a position, in addition to Moscow. “Literally yesterday I talked with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Wang I. We have coinciding positions,” the minister added. At the same time, regarding the future development of Afghanistan, according to Lavrov, positive signals come from the Taliban.
The Russian Foreign Minister noted that militants are ready to see different political forces in the government of the country. Lavrov also positively appreciated the willingness of the Taliban to allow the management of officials who worked with the Ex-President of Afghanistan Ashrafe Gani. Another “encouraging signal” the minister considered the promise of Taliban to allow girls to receive education.
