Germany is responsible for what is happening in Afghanistan as a participant in the NATO campaign in this country. This was stated by the FRG President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, reports Spiegel.
In his opinion, the Allies in the North Atlantic Alliance should draw conclusions from the victory of the Taliban movement (prohibited in the Russian Federation) in the Civil War. Starmeyer also called the “tragedy” what is happening with the Afghan people. He added that the desperate position of people at Kabul International Airport is a shame for the political leaders of the West.
Earlier it became known that the German aircraft intended for the evacuation of German citizens and Afghan refugees was able to take on their board only seven people due to unrest and shooting at the Kabul airport. Before that, the car could not land, as the crowd of people filled the runway. After a long stay in the sky above the airport, the aircraft had to fly to refueling to Tashkent.
On August 16, the German chancellor Angela Merkel called on to evacuate 10 thousand people from Afghanistan, including Afghans who collaborated with German military, as well as human rights defenders and lawyers. She also stated that Berlin must cooperate with bordering with Afghanistan countries to help place refugees.
