Uzbekistan announced “close contacts” with “Taliban”

Tashkent supports “close contacts” with representatives of the “Taliban” radical movement (prohibited in the territory of Russia) on the protection of borders and conservation of calm in the border areas. It is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Uzbekistan.

In the agency, they noted that they support the “statements of the Intrafganic Forces on the preparedness for the formation of an inclusive government,” and hoped to the peaceful transit of power in Afghanistan.

The Foreign Ministry also emphasized that Uzbek diplomatic missions in Kabul and Mazar-Sharif operate in normal mode.
