Russia: it became more difficult to extract oil

Rosstat concluded that in Russia it became more difficult to extract oil. Statistical data indicate that in the second quarter of 2021, the cost of production increased 2.2 times compared to the same period last year: from 9.24 thousand to 20.37 thousand rubles per ton, TASS reports. Moreover, production in the second quarter of the 2021th turned out to be the most expensive over the past 10 years.

According to Rosstat estimates, the cost of oil production in Russia began to rise sharply since 2017, when the authorities stated that the reserves of minerals in the country are depleted, and mining on new fields is becoming more expensive. At the same time, the fall in the cost, as statistics showed, occurred in the second quarter of 2020. It coincided with the conclusion of the OPEC transaction + and the total fall in world demand against the background of the coronavirus pandemic. The cost of cost in the second quarter of this year can be associated with the rise in price of oil on the world market.

Earlier in August, the Norwegian analytical company RYSTAD ENERGY preddered Russia to record oil production by the summer of 2022. It is expected that a record high in 2023 will be the average annual level of production – 12.16 million barrels per day. Thus, for the year about 600 million tons of oil and condensate will be mined, despite the fact that the current peak indicator is 568 million tons in 2019.

On the other hand, the deposit in the country is depleted. As Alexander Kozlov, Alexander Kozlov said, the provision of all oil reserves in Russia at current mining is 59 years old, natural gas – 103 years. According to him, somewhere there are deposits that are released, and there are those that have not yet received a full load.
