The UN Security Council called on to raise the Taliban militants (terrorist movement, prohibited in Russia), violating human rights and the norms of international humanitarian law. This is stated in the press release of the statement of the UN Secretary-General Antoniou Guterres, published on the Security Council.
“Members of the Security Council expressed deep concern about the number of reports on serious violations of international humanitarian law and human rights violations in communities affected by … conflict,” the document says.
It is noted that all parties must comply with the obligations within the framework of international humanitarian law, to protect civilians, as well as to ensure the safety of humanitarian and medical personnel, translators and representatives of the press and dipms.
Earlier on August 16, the UN Security Council called for urgently stop the fighting and form a new government in Afghanistan. Diplomats demanded that the new government be created through inclusive negotiations, and the dialogue in order to resolve the crisis of power should be adjusted soon.
