Even at the beginning of the year, the UN calculated that half of the country’s population needed humanitarian aid. “There was a high level of malnutrition among children, and in addition to this, then there were problems with security. There was still a drought, which means there is a lack of food,” the volume noted.
According to the UN employee, the organization has already recorded about 400 thousand internally displaced persons who need help. “In fact, this figure is strongly understated, because we could not check all the people who arrive in Kabul. We provide assistance in need, but more and more people continue to arrive in the capital,” she told. Tom noted that it is difficult to predict whether the situation will worse in the near future, but expressed hope for the best.
