UK caught in irresponsible waste of money

The Government of Great Britain spends more funds for the production of carbon emissions than on their reduction, stated in the World Wildlife Foundation (WWF). Charitable organization considered such a budget distribution unfair and accused London in the unreasonable handling of money, writes The Guardian.

The defenders of nature studied published in March the budget project for 2021 and found out that only 145 million pounds of sterling were allocated to fight global warming (14.8 billion rubles), and the projects were harmful to the environment – 40 billion pounds sterling (more than four trillion rubles). Moreover, most of the money allotted for the benefit of the nature will go to the creation of an emission trading system for enterprises after Brexit.

WWF managed to catch the government in irresponsible investments using the new “budget marking instrument.” Together with Vivid Economics, a charitable organization has developed a service that relates to solutions to politicians with their environmental influence. “The spring project of the budget showed a discrepancy between the rhetoric of the government and the real state of affairs. Ambitions [with respect to reducing greenhouse gas emissions] are great, but I would like to see an effective policy,” said the head of the climate department WWF Isabella O’Dud.

she accused ministers in ignoring the climate agenda and urged urgently to take action. According to O’Dud, if the government had put into priority to environmental investments, he would have about 90 billion pounds of sterling to create new jobs, as well as on health benefits and infrastructure.

The government has refuted WWF analysis. The representative of the British Ministry of Finance called him “misleading,” because 12 billion pounds of sterling were not taken into account, which the authorities promised to spend on a ten-centup “green” industry transformation.

Similar WWF assessment of the policies of the authorities for the environment and the British Committee on Environmental Audit (EAC). The organization paid attention to the fact that wildlife suffered the strongest in the United Kingdom. However, the success in the field of ecology in the state is also there. According to analysts from the KMATRIX, green enterprises in the UK four times more than polluting the atmosphere.
