Former presidential candidate, Andrei Dmitriev, previously detained for an unknown reason, was released from custody and returned home. He reported this on his Facebook page.
According to him, he was released to freedom to subscribe to the non-disclosure of the details of the interrogation. “The list of articles is huge. Determined the status in a criminal case,” said Dmitriev, talking about the accusations nominated him.
Politician also assured that he is not going to leave Belarus, and clarified that all the actions of law enforcement officers during the search, detention and interrogation were carried out very correctly.
August 12, the Human Rights Center “Spring” reported that Andrei Dmitriev was detained by unknown persons. Previously, it became known that the security forces came with the search in the apartment of the former Ambassador of Belarus in Slovakia Igor Beshechy. It was noted that, according to unconfirmed data, after searches, the ex-ambassador was detained. At the same time, the criminal case was not reported on the initiation against him.
Presidential elections in Belarus took place on August 9, 2020. According to CEC, Dmitriev scored 1.21 percent of the vote, the operating head of state Alexander Lukashenko – 80 percent, the wife of the arrested opposition blogger Svetlana Tikhanovskaya – 10 percent.
