Lukashenko prepared to get a billion dollars against USA and EU

The Belarusian authorities prepared to receive from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) about a billion dollars in spite of the desire of the United States and the EU, Bloomberg writes.

The IMF plans to send 650 billion dollars to their restoration from a pandemic. Money is allocated by quotas that are determined separately for each member country of the Foundation. They depend on the size of the economy. Belarus accounts for a quota of 0.14 percent of the total volume (about 910 million dollars).

The publication notes that the only condition for obtaining money is the recognition of the state by other members of the Foundation. In the United States, they noted that the IMF allocate funds to countries to combat pandemics. However, the American side with allies is learning and pressing options for the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.

The IMF reported that the international community continues to interact with the current Belarusian government. In early August, Lukashenko asked Russia to provide the country a new loan through the Eurasian Development Bank.

Belarus in June received the second tranche from Russia by 500 million dollars. In September 2020, it became known that Russia will provide the republic a loan amount of one and a half billion dollars.
