US Army Sensors are not sufficiently effective for the detection of hypersonic opponent missiles, including Russian production. This was stated by the head of the strategic command of the American Armed Forces (Sun) Admiral Charles Richard, RIA Novosti reports.
Richard called Russia a world leader in hypersonic technologies. He was frightened by potential problems for US forces, which may arise due to the use of these technologies in the event of a potential conflict. “Because of these problems, our current architecture of ground and space-based sensors can be insufficient for detecting and tracking these hypersonic missiles,” admiral stressed.
According to Richard, the Russian side continues to invest significant financial resources in the development of hypersonic planning aircraft-gladers.
On July 20, the head of the press service of the US Department of Defense John Kirby called Russian developments in the field of hypersonic weapons “destabilizing factor”. He added that the United States also has similar developments, but exclusively in non-nuclear equipment.
The day before that of the Ministry of Defense of Russia showed the launch of the Zircon’s hypersonic missile. Tests of weapons took place in the Oppolyary – the rocket was released from the surface carrier from the White Sea to the target in the Barents Sea. She overcame the distance of more than 350 kilometers.
