Rosneft is going to double the production of hydrogen. In 2023, Rosneft plans to produce up to 1.32 million tons of hydrogen per year. This is reported by Reuters agency with reference to the press service of the company.
Rosneft is currently producing more than 650 thousand tons of hydrogen per year. Thus, the company has become the largest producer of hydrogen in Russia, notes Reuters, stressing that Gazprom now produces only about 360 thousand tons of hydrogen per year – mainly by steam reforming of methane.
“The company pays a priority to carbon management. Rosneft has become the first Russian company that submitted a carbon management plan until 2035. As part of this plan, the company plans to reduce emissions in oil and gas produce by 30 percent, reach the intensity of methane emissions below 0.25 percent and prevent greenhouse gas emissions in the amount of 20 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, “said Rosneft representative.
