Estonian authorities decided to arm border guards and police strokes to protect against illegal migrants entering the countries of the European Union (EU) through Belarus. This is reported by Telegram-channel Baltnews with reference to the source in the Department of Police and Border Guard of the Republic.
According to the department, to curb the penetration of illegal immigrants to the country, the weapon of the non-meaning will be equipped with all patrol. The Department hopes that the use of shockers will avoid deaths or severe wounds among violators of the state border of the republic. It is noted that the batch of weapons were purchased back in 2018, and it is enough for all employees of the border service.
Earlier, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Estonia Kristyan Yaan said that the republic wanted to strengthen the border protection and developed several plans for the influx of illegal migrants to the Baltic countries from the territory of Belarus. He said that if necessary, the Estonian authorities plan to overlap Estonia’s border with Latvia.
In July, the Lithuanian authorities introduced an emergency mode due to the influx of illegal immigrants from the Middle East, which fall into the country from the territory of Belarus. Border guards declare a record refugee stream since 1991. Siloviki regularly stop attempts to raise replacing riots in migration camps. In the current situation, the Baltic Republics accused President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, who allegedly moved illegal immigrants to the EU countries in order to avenge Western sanctions.
